Please bring verification of your dog’s vaccination records (DHLP, Rabies & Bordetella) to the orientation. The Feisty Fido class is so popular that it fills up quickly and the class size is limited to only 4 dogs. Aggression is usually a "heightened inappropriate sense of defensiveness" or a willingness to retain a resource. Basically, the dog is stressed and is trying to protect itself or guard it's resources, the only way it knows how to; whether that be by cowering, growling, snapping, lunging or biting. It has two options, to fight or to flee. A stressed dog may use it's teeth to accomplish either intent. However, when one looks at aggression for what it really is, then you're in a position to be able to help your dog move from a reactive state to a calmer thinking state of mind and therefore, exhibit more controllable and desired behavior. In this class, you will learn: how to read your dog’s challenging and fearful postures, proper safe handling skills, how to better prevent dangerous situations, and how to teach your dog basic obedience skills. You will teach your dog how to: relax around other dogs instead of acting aggressive or fearful, pay more attention to you rather than other dogs, and learn basic obedience skills despite distractions. $197 for the four week class.
